We often get to witness it on primetime shows or movies, but this one incident where two people were bound by fate to meet again actually happened in real life.
The story was shared on Twitter and shortly became viral as many netizens were touched by the powerful kindness and compassion manifested by the doctor who saved a baby with a cyst on her chest. Who would have thought that they would meet again after a very long time?
Now a senior high school student at the Tagbilaran City High School, the former patient named Arabella wrote:
“17 years ago, a sickly baby needed an operation because she has a cyst on her chest. The mother only has P40 in her wallet. But this doctor operated the child. For free. The doctor was Dr. Maribel Du, a pediatric surgeon from University of Cebu Medical Center. Dr. Du’s act of kindness didn’t fade; for the baby who grew up to be a fine lady became motivated to do more good to others. And that is why I need to become a doctor. I need to share the same kindness I was lucky enough to receive.”
Even though Arabella may still have a long way to go to fulfill her dreams in the medical field, the kindness of Dr. Du surely motivated her to give it her best shot. With the inspiring story capturing the hearts of countless netizens, it is not surprising how the post quickly became viral with more than 33,600 likes on the said social media platform.
A netizen by the name of Jomo Macalino said,
“Thanks for sharing your story to the world. We need this kind of stories nowadays.”
Meanwhile, many encouraged Arabella to go after her dream, saying, “Get it, girl and don’t forget to pay it forward.”
