The late Comedy King Dolphy passed away on July 10, 2012 due to multiple organ failure.
When Dolphy had left showbiz, his legacy was continued by his sons and daughters who have already built their own name in the showbiz industry.
At the same time, he also left his children with his multi-million estate for them to divide and share. Among his 18 children, the late “Comedy King” chose Eric Quizon to take care of the properties he had left for the family.
The 51-year-old actor is the 12th child of Dolphy, he was the one in charge to be the administrator of his father’s wealth. According to a recent interview, at first, his mom was against Dolphy’s decision.
“Before that, nag-usap sila ng mommy ko. Pinapagalitan pa nga siya ng mommy ko kasi nga my dad chose me to be the administrator. Sabi ng mommy ko, ‘Bakit mo binibigyan ng problema si Eric? Baka mamaya awayin siya…’ Sabi ng daddy ko, ‘Hindi, walang ibang gagawa niyan. Siya lang.’ So, yung mommy ko, parang sige, ‘Okay, that’s your decision,’ at saka nangako naman ako sa daddy ko, so okey lang. So far, okey kami. Maayos naman lahat ever since. Ngayon siguro, we’re just waiting for the blessings, yung mga biyaya.”
Currently, Eric Quizon has been concentrated on the land project in Calatagan, Batangas. Dolphy’s children originally wanted to transfer his remains in this property.
They have decided to name the subdivision after the late comedian, which they will call “Dolphyville.” The family also plans to put up “Dolphy Museum” here.
“We have a project in Calatagan, it’s a subdivision. We’re just waiting for the license to sell. After that, we can sell the property, phase by phase. It’s called Dolphyville in Calatagan. It has five hundred lots so it’s going to be good for the family. It’s just taking time but, at least, everyone will be okay, kaya lang medyo matagal, it’s been six years.”
Meanwhile, Dolphy’s long-time partner, Zsa Zsa Padilla is still part of the decision-making. He consults her every time, even if she was not an heir because she was not married to the late actor.
“Even if Zsa Zsa is not an heir, ang usapan kasi namin before my dad [passed], kung anuman ang desisyon, consult Zsa Zsa or pag-uusapan namin ni Zsa Zsa, which we always do.”
According to Eric, every member of their family received an inheritance from Dolphy and he was just taking care of the properties that were left.
“Kung ano lang ang naiwan sa estate, yun lang ang pinag-uusapan, but the rest, bago [passed] ang daddy ko, binigyan na kami. Meron naman lahat.”
Aside from his task, Eric Quizon has been busy for his forthcoming film “One Great Love,” where he is among the headliners, along with the lead stars Kim Chiu, JC De Vera, and Dennis Trillo.
