Stunning Gown Worn by a Bb. Pilipinas Candidate Created by BJMP Inmates

This year’s National Costumes of Bb. Pilipinas candidates highlight the country’s rich culture and tradition.

The photo exhibit opened to the public on May 8 at Gateway Mall, Cubao, while the upcoming National Costume Fashion Show will be on May 29 at the New Frontier Theater, Araneta Coliseum.



On the official Facebook page of Bb. Pilipinas, they featured the stunning photos of the candidates in their national costume that instantly captured the attention of many netizens.

But one of the most talked about National Costume is the beautiful white structured ball gown worn by candidate Emma Mary Tiglao, 26, who hails from Pampanga, which now has over 65k reactions on Facebook.

Her national costume was designed by Kapampangan designer Mr. Rich Sabinian and was woven by the PDLs (Persons Deprived of Liberty) resident basket weavers of Angeles District Jail Male Dorm.

The Kapampangan designer called the stunning gown as “FE ESPERANZA CARIDAD” which means “Faith, Hope, and Charity,” symbolizing the rich culture and heritage of Pampanga.

This gown also features traditional weaving called “solihiya” and wood carving called “pinukpok” in Pampanga.

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Angeles District Jail shared a post on Facebook on how the inmates created the stunning gown. They also thanked Bb. Tiglao and Mr. Rich Sabinian for trusting on the skills of the inmates with her national costume.



“Thank you Ms. Emma and Sir Rich for entrusting this creation to the skillful hands of our PDLs (Persons Deprived of Liberty), truly a Kapampangan pride. “Kapampangan ku, Pagmaragul ku!,” a part of the FB post read.

Meanwhile, the BJMP inmates’ talents and efforts in helping Bb. Tiglao was commended by many netizens online.

Aside from Bb. Emma Tiglao, the National Costumes of the other candidates from different provinces in the Philippines, was also showcased in the said photo exhibit.
