While working overseas provide a brighter future for every Filipino family, it doesn’t come without its disadvantages, too. Getting homesick, for one, is one major dilemma that OFWs face abroad. Being far from loved ones is an ordeal you wish you wouldn’t have to go through, but for the sake of greener pastures, you are left with no choice but to endure it.
However, an OFW working as a nurse in Canada shared how her family does not seem to appreciate her sacrifices. Instead, she was scolded by one of his siblings for not sending money in the Philippines when he wanted to purchase a car. The nurse’s demanding brother sent her a message that really hurt her feelings, even calling her ‘selfish’.
In spite of making sure that their family left in their home country are eating three or more meals a day, and the kids are able to attend school, some family members just can’t help but demand too much from an OFW.
Shared by the Facebook page, PESO SENSE, the aforementioned Pinay nurse who lives with her family in Canada recalled how her brother said a bunch of hurtful things to her for not granting his very specific request of buying a car.
The said post has soon gone viral and enraged lots of netizens, taking the side of the anonymous Filipina nurse. They mentioned how ungrateful her siblings are and emphasized that it’s not her obligation to give in to all their whims.
