Losing a child is the worst thing that can happen to any parent and is considered as grief that lasts forever.
However, this worst nightmare was experienced twice by this OFW father named Art Tecson Jr., who lost his 6-year-old daughter 2 years ago because of sepsis, just recently he lost again his 18-year-old daughter because of dengue.
The OFW father works in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as a Telecommunications Surveyor. While working, he received the most heartbreaking news when his eldest daughter Allyza Marie was diagnosed with dengue and rushed to the hospital.
The smart young lady was supposed to graduate with high honors at the Asian College of Technology (ACT) Bulacao campus on April 4.
Although she was confined at the hospital, Allyza Marie was still determined to graduate from senior high school. In fact, she even completed some of her school projects despite her body is weak.
But all of a sudden, the young lady’s condition had become worse and she eventually passed away, while his father was still in Saudi and miles away from home.
“During the time (when) she was being revived by the doctors, I had my family put me on video chat so I can see my daughter. I kept saying, lumaban ka anak. Please, wag mong iwan si papa. But then I saw how weak my daughter was and finally said to her, anak give up na tayo. Pahinga ka na,” Art revealed.
“Ang hirap. Kasi, yung hindi ako makatulog nang maayos dahil everytime makakatulog ako ang gulo ng utak ko. Hindi inabot ng one week ang anak ko, bago binawi-an nang buhay.”
He lost his daughter on March 15, only a few weeks before her Graduation Day.
Upon learning that her daughter would have graduated with High Honors, Art decided to attend the graduation and march on her behalf.
The grieving father attended the graduation ceremony, holding a frame of her daughter’s graduation photo. He also went to the stage to receive her diploma and medal, which he proudly wore in honor of his late daughter.
