Back in the late ’90s to the early 2000s, TV viewers were entertained by the popular Surf commercials, where Lumen and her family features a picture of Pinoy domestic bliss. There was “Wais na Nanay” Lumen, her husband Lando, Lola Obang, and yes, the twins!
Lumen’s mother-in-law is very strict when it comes to her grandchildren’s clothes, that’s why she told Lumen to use expensive detergent brands, but the “Wais na Nanay” chooses Surf which is cheaper but still makes all their clothes clean.
For many years, people had surely followed Lumen and her family’s adventures. The twins Ana and Maria became part of the Filipino household and the said commercial opened many doors for the then five years old Charice and Charlotte Hermoso.
The Hermoso twins auditioned among many pairs and had been fortunate enough to land the ad with a teleserye-like approach.
In 2007, Charice and Charlotte were also seen in GMA Network’s drama series “Impostora.”
The twins went off the grid for a while, but after several years they went back in the showbiz industry as Hershey and Kisses in the Cebu-based teleserye “Inday Will Always Love You”
The now-defunct TV series was directed by Monti Parungao, “Inday Will Always Love You” also stars Ricky Davao, Manilyn Reynes, Nova Villa, Tina Paner, Derrick Monasterio, Juancho Trivino, and Super Tekla.
In a previous interview, the twins admit that they were thrilled with their television comeback.
In the said TV series, the two played the role of Kim Rodriquez’s best friends, who turned Happylou’s (Barbie Forteza) life a living hell. But the mean personas of Hershey and Kisses were what drew them to take these roles.
Yung ‘Inday Will Always Love You’, perfect show po siya para makita kami,” Charlotte quips.
Charlotte said that they’re really thankful for the “KMJS” team for seeking them out, which to their surprise led to roles in “Inday Will Always Love You.”
On November 2017, the Hermoso twins were featured in a “throwback” episode of KMJS that focused on good old nostalgia. Charice and Charlotte were reintroduced to the public and were even reunited with their Lola Obang who was portrayed by Nina Medina.
But despite being back in show business, the two have not quit school. They are both studying at the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in Las Piñas. Charlotte is pursuing a degree in Mass Communication and wants to be a broadcast journalist, while Charice is taking up Hotel and Restaurant Management and dreams of becoming a model and actress.
The Hermoso twins are now 20 years old and they also wish to complete their education and graduate from college to explore more fields.
